Greek and Latin Roots
Greek and Latin Roots
This 6-week course consists of exercises with Ancient Greek and Latin roots, stems, prefixes, and suffixes that are still widely used to create modern English words. By introducing students to these concepts, they will develop the foundation to continue building upon their knowledge in the future.
We will also apply the new vocabulary, challenging students to use groups of 10 words at a time in short writing exercises – culminating in the ultimate challenge of using all 10 words in a single, complete sentence that makes logical sense and contains no grammatical errors! (Yes, it can be done!)
By practicing vocabulary in this way, students will learn to actively analyze word parts as well to recognize the patterns of the different parts of speech (noun form, verb form, adjective form, adverb form, etc.,) generating deeper understanding of the mechanics of English as a whole.
